Each summer the Liquid Crystal Institute hires several undergraduates in Physics and Chemistry to work in research laboratories. Research opportunities include liquid crystal synthesis, studies of physical properties, phase behavior, structure and defects, and in addition to this basic research, applied areas such as liquid crystal device and display modeling, fabrication and characterization.
Typically, students have completed their junior year although exceptionally well-qualified freshmen and sophomores have been accepted in the past.
Stipends are $3,500 for 10 weeks, plus a reasonable travel allowance. If you are interested in a position, please send resume, transcripts, and a cover letter to Dr. Jack Kelly. Also, you should have a recommendation letter sent directly to Dr. Kelly.
