Polymer Stabilized Ferroelectric
LCs
- Small concentration of a reactive monomer 3~5 wt% and ~0.25%of
a photoinitiator are dissolved in a FLC.
- Photopolymerization takes place at the chiral smectic C phase.
- Resulting polymer network enhances the device ruggedness
and reduces the switching time compared to that of the pure FLCs.
- Thresholdless (V-shaped) switching behavior was observed
due to the presence of quasi-bookshelf texture induced by strong
bulk anchoring on polymer network.
