Welcome

The BOSLab Research Group has conducted DARPA sponsored liquid crystal device research projects* for many years. A key area of this research has dealt with the behavior of liquid crystal devices (LCDs). Software has been developed to model LCD behavior, to draw director configurations, and to model the optical performance of LCDs.

Noteworthy applications that you may download for free:

  • BerremanInternet - An Internet client for performing 1-dimensional director and optics modeling calculations.  The client connects to a server running Dr. Dwight W. Berreman's programs.

  • GNU-LCM - An open source program for preforming 1-D director and optics modeling calculations.  (Developed with NATO support.)

  • LC3D - Models multi-dimensional director configurations.

  • LC3Draw - Visualizes multi-dimensional director configurations.

All of these applications are designed to run on Win9x/NT platforms.  They have not been tested on WinME or Win2K, but they should work.  No Win3.x, Mac, or Unix/Linux versions are available.
