(tutorial available), ferroelectricty, fluid fibers, flexoelectricity,
piezoelectricity, non-conventional liquid crystal systems, nanoparticle
synthesis, small-volume rheology and blue phase materials.

- Dr. Jakli
attended the 12th International Conference on Ferroelectric Liquid
Crystals
- Stefanie
Taushanoff spent the summer visiting
the Tokyo Institute of Technology in the lab of Dr. H. Takazoe as part
of the NSF-EASPI program.
- John Harden
defended his thesis, "Electromechanical
Couplings in Liquid Crystals," and will remain with us as a
post-doctoral fellow.
- Students
