Welcome to Jakli Lab!  Some of our current interests include: bent core liquid crystals (tutorial available), ferroelectricty, fluid fibers, flexoelectricity, piezoelectricity, non-conventional liquid crystal systems, nanoparticle synthesis, small-volume rheology and blue phase materials.

Recent News The 5th International Liquid Crystal Elastomer Conference happens September 24-26 Dr. Jakli attended the 12th International Conference on Ferroelectric Liquid Crystals Stefanie Taushanoff spent the summer visiting the Tokyo Institute of Technology in the lab of Dr. H. Takazoe as part of the NSF-EASPI program. John Harden defended his thesis, "Electromechanical Couplings in Liquid Crystals," and will remain with us as a post-doctoral fellow.
