Spatial resolution

Isotropic Medium (Δn = 0):

Radial resolution Δr_r = 0.44λ/NA > 0.2µm;

Axial resolution Δr_a = 1.5nλ/NA² > 0.6µm

Birefringent medium:

Both axial and radial resolution worsen with depth of scanning z. In LCs resolution is usually slightly worse than in isotropic medium and Δr ~ Δnz.
