Professor of Physics and Macromolecular Science

Chuck Rosenblatt received his Ph.D. in Applied Physics from Harvard University in 1978. After a two year postdoc at the University of California Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory, he joined the Francis Bitter National Magnet Laboratory at M.I.T. as a research physicist. In 1987 he assumed a position at Case Western Reserve University, where he is Professor of Physics and Macromolecular Science.

Rosenblatt has published 100 refereed liquid crystal related articles, and holds several patents. He is a past membership secretary of the International Liquid Crystal Society, and serves on the editorial board of the journal Liquid Crystals. He is also director of ALCOM's Alignment Layers project. His research centers on electro and magnetooptic phenomena in liquid crystals and complex fluids, with particular emphasis on symmetry and interfacial phenomena. Rosenblatt is a Fellow of the American Physical Society.
