17th International Liquid Crystal Conference Strasbourg, France July 19-24, 1998

A gathering of conference attendees who are currently associated with the NSF ALCOM Center or who have worked, studied, or visited at length at the Liquid Crystal Institute at Kent State University.

Scientists gathered at a reception Sunday evening, officially opening the conference.

Over 30 posters were presented by ALCOM scientists and graduate students.

Four scientists were bestowed honored membership in the ILCS. (l-r) A. Fukuda, ILCS President, Alfred Saupe, S. Chandrasekhar, George Gray, and John Goodby, Honors and Awards Committee. Pierre deGennes (not pictured) was the fourth recipient.
