Two
CPIP graduate students awarded Samsung Scholarship
|
CPIP Graduate Students Fushan Zhou and Ye Yin were
recently awarded a one-year Samsung Scholarship increasing their
stipends to $20,000 per year. This scholarship will be awarded each
year to two Kent State graduate students who will be supported
by the annual stipend.
Samsung is asking these students to develop new LCD technologies
for 2D and 3D displays. The new LCD technologies will be used in
support of the Samsung's next generation display and manufacturing.
Student proposals addressed being able to provide new materials,
design concepts and display simulations.

Fushan Zhou |
Zhou will
work with his advisor, Professor Deng-ke Yang on a project entitled "Polymer
Stabilized Electrically Controlled Birefringence Trans-reflective
Displays." |

Ye Yin |
Yin will
work with his advisor, Professor Oleg D. Lavrentovich on a project
entitled "The Improvement of Switching Speed by
Using Nematic Liquid Crystal with Frequency Dependent Dielectric
Permittivity." |
Both students will write a technical report at the
end of each semester for submission to Samsung.
